Cyprus is one of the many islands found in the Mediterranean. Cyprus is in fact an island that is though politically divided into two parts; shares a common interest in sports. One of the most widely played and used sports here in Cyprus is cycling. This is not only a sport here in Cyprus; it is also a very cheap and effective means of traveling around the island. By cycling through Cyprus, you can get to admire and appreciate the beauty of Cyprus much better; while enjoying some health benefits with the exercise. You can find many facilities for renting bicycles in Cyprus. They are readily available in towns and resorts. However, there is no promise on the quality of the cycle as its quality may vary considerably from resort to resort.

If you are one who is interested in mountain biking, then you are sure to find that Cyprus is a great place for mountain biking. There are many non-racing activities and events conducted here in Cyprus that are related to cycling and motor biking. You are also offered free maps so that you can enjoy your cycling experience much better when in Cyprus.

There are many unspoilt areas in Cyprus. This is why Cyprus is considered to be a great place to go hiking and trekking. You can find many nature trails in Cyprus in the Troodos and Akamas area. There are also other trails in the forests of Machairas and Limassol.

If you are one of those who enjoys water sports, then Cyprus also has many opportunities in water sports in windsurfing, paragliding and swimming in its various beaches. Some of the beaches of Cyprus are the Larnaca and Dasoudi where you may be offered great facilities as a swimmer that includes bars, changing rooms and restaurants. Besides these water sports, there are some locations in Cyprus that offer sailing, diving, scuba-diving and water skiing. Fishing is also permitted in parts of Cyprus; however, it is necessary to get permission from the department of fisheries if you intend to do some fishing.

Cyprus is also fast becoming a destination for winter sports with many hoteliers and tour operatives offering off-peak offers. The skiing months from January to mid March are best spent in Platres and Kakopetria. The nearest resort of the skiing area is Troodos where you can find excellent winter sports facilities. To help you in your skiing, there are four ski-lifts found in Mount Olympus. There is no need of brining your ski equipment as there are many places in Cyprus that rents ski equipment.

Another sport that is greatly encouraged in Cyprus is golf. There are three golf courses found in the island of Cyprus. The first golf course is the Tsada golf club which has an 18 hole golf course and is found situated near Tsada village. Then there is the Secret Valley Golf Club that also has an 18 hole golf course and is situated in the east of Pafos. The Aphrodite hills is the third golf course found here; and is an 18 hole golf course. You find that many hotels in Cyprus also offer golfing facilities.
